  Japan New WLAN Rule
    The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) of Japan published the revision of The "Radio Equipment Regulations for WLAN Systems" as of July 2019.

 
In order to meet demands for improved efficiency of WLAN connections and manage the current increased traffic of the mobile communications, the Ministry amended the technical regulations of WLAN Systems to support IEEE 802.11ax.

The main changes includes:

• to allow the WLAN system to support IEEE 802.11ax
allow the WLAN system to use straddle channel 144(5720MHz)142(5710MHz)138(5690MHz)


revise the Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) radar detection mechanism employed in the WLAN system operating in the 5.25-5.35 GHz band


These rules became effective on July 11, 2019.

 

New devices are allowed to be certified under the old rules until July 10, 2020 during the transition period.

Device certified before July 11, 2019 may be continuously marketed in Japan.
