Broadcom Inc. and Sporton International Inc. have achieved another world first for Wi-Fi, this time by obtaining the first standard power indoor Wi-Fi 7 access point certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  This approval builds on the back of the persistent inquiry approval (PIA) on Broadcom’s smartphone geolocation solution and the world’s first Wi-Fi 7 certification from the FCC.

By obtaining the standard power certification for access points, Broadcom and Sporton have paved the way for consumers to experience whole home gigabit connectivity. OEMs building Broadcom based composite residential access points can work with Sporton to leverage Broadcom’s PIA approval to efficiently and cost effectively bring products to the U.S. market.
